Heard a vet say cats don't need wet food, now I'm torn on what's true
I was at PetSmart last Tuesday picking up litter and overheard this older vet talking to a customer. He straight up said dry kibble is fine for most cats and wet food is just a marketing gimmick to sell more expensive stuff. But my cat Mittens had a urinary blockage 6 months ago and my regular vet told me wet food is the only way to keep his water intake up. So which is it really? I've been spending like $60 a month on fancy wet cans because I'm scared of another vet bill. Has anyone else gotten completely different advice from two pros and had to pick a side?

Is there a chance the older vet was just used to how things were done 20 years ago before all the urinary issues became common?

Buddy of mine took his cat to a older vet like that. The vet kept pushing dry food even after the cat had two blockages already. Told my friend to just add more water bowls around the house. Second opinion vet switched him to wet only and the cat never had another issue. Some of them really are stuck in that old school dry food mindset.
