Picked a soft-sided bag over a hardshell for my Europe trip and it saved me at least 3 times
I chose a soft duffel that squishes under seats instead of a hard roller suitcase, and on my flight to Lisbon last month the gate agent made me stuff it into a tiny sizer while the lady with the hardshell got checked for $75 has anyone else dealt with that panic of the sizer test?

Oh man, the sizer test is basically the Hunger Games of budget travel isn't it? I would've just started shoving that bag down like I was playing Tetris with my dignity on the line. Meanwhile the hard case lady is probably still waiting at baggage claim while you're already sipping a €2 wine by the waterfront. Soft bags really do make you feel like a ninja sneaking past the overhead bin police.
