Compression cubes seemed gimmicky to me at first, but I caved after a Europe trip last fall

I was totally that person rolling my eyes at everyone raving about them. Then I packed for a 10 day trip to London and Paris in a 35 liter bag and couldn't fit my jeans plus a sweater without a struggle. A buddy let me try his set of Eagle Creek cubes and I fit everything plus an extra jacket. Has anyone else had a similar turnaround on something they thought was overhyped?

Oh man, I read somewhere that compression cubes were invented by a backpacker who got tired of fighting with their bag, and honestly that makes total sense now. They're one of those things you don't get until you actually try them out.

Oh man, "one of those things you don't get until you try them" - that is SO true @allen.ruby! I was the SAME way. I fought with my backpack for YEARS just shoving everything in and hoping for the best. Last year I finally bought a set of compression cubes and it changed my whole packing game. I can fit like twice as much in my bag now and actually FIND stuff without digging through everything. Seriously, I tell everyone I know who travels to just get some because it makes that much of a difference.
