I finally found the right tack strip for concrete floors
Spent all Tuesday fighting with a slab in a new build. The glue wasn't holding because the concrete was too smooth. Tried that new double-sided tape from the supply house instead. Best decision I made in weeks. Anyone else deal with tricky concrete slabs like that?

Double check that the concrete wasn't just damp when you tried the glue. Smooth concrete usually bonds fine with the right primer and a urethane adhesive. That double sided tape might peel up in a month when the slab really starts curing and shifting.

And honestly if the slab is still curing, that tape is gonna fail for sure. Concrete shrinks a tiny bit as it dries out over the first few months, so anything stuck to the surface is gonna get pulled or shifted. Ngl, I'd rather spend the extra hour doing it right with glue than redoing it all when the tape lets go.

12 bucks says that tape lasts exactly as long as it takes for you to walk inside, grab a cup of coffee, and come back out to find it curled up like a dead spider. I glued a baseboard to a garage slab once after a rainstorm and it popped off so clean it looked like I'd just set it there for a photo op. Meanwhile my buddy used that heavy duty gorilla tape on his driveway and it's been holding strong for a year, so your guess is as good as mine. Just saying, concrete is a fickle beast and it'll humble you real fast.
