Dealing with constant wrist strain from coding... is it just part of the job or a sign to change habits?

I've been a software developer for five years, and lately my wrists have been killing me from all the typing... Some of my colleagues say you have to push through the discomfort to meet deadlines and advance. They think taking breaks or using special gear slows you down. But I've read stories about people getting serious injuries like carpal tunnel, which can end careers early. I started doing stretches and got a better keyboard, but it's a constant battle. On one hand, I want to be seen as dedicated and reliable. On the other, I don't want to damage my health for a job. What do you all think... should we accept some pain as normal, or is it a red flag that needs immediate action?

I used to believe in pushing through discomfort, but now I see it as a red flag for serious injury.

Wait, your colleagues actually say to push through the pain? That's insane.
