Vent: my bench magnifier lamp died mid teardown and the LED ring "upgrade" everyone pushes was a downgrade

Noticed this same thing with so many "upgrades" lately, they fix one small thing and break three others. My buddy swapped his garage lights for those flat LED panels and now he can't see fine scratches at all because there's no shadow anymore. Sometimes the old bulky stuff worked because it was actually built for the job. Half these swaps are just people wanting to feel modern, not because the new thing is better.
