Rant: Spent 4 hours yesterday chasing a short in a wall that turned out to be a chewed line from a mouse nest in the attic.

Chasing a chewed line is the worst. I finally got smart and just run a whole new wire from the panel now. Saves so much time in the long run.

Yeah my buddy learned that the hard way last summer. He spent two whole days trying to find where mice had chewed through an old cable run in his attic, @tara_moore66. He was pulling his hair out by the end of it. Now he does exactly what you said, just runs a fresh line right from the source. It really is the only way to be sure you got it all.
