I used to ziptie everything behind a TV and now I actually use velcro, here is what flipped the switch
I used to be a ziptie guy, no shame. Twenty years of installs and I would just ratchet those things down until the cables squeaked. Then about 8 months ago I was doing a wall mount in a older house over in Beaverton and the guy wanted to add a soundbar later, and I had to cut every single tie just to pull one HDMI. Took me 40 extra minutes and I nicked a coax shield doing it. That was the day I bought a 25 foot roll of velcro straps and never looked back. Now I wrap every bundle loose, label both ends with a sharpie, and leave a little service loop at the bottom. Customers think it looks way cleaner and honestly I finish faster because I am not fighting plastic. Only time I still grab a ziptie is for a single drop in a crawlspace where nothing is ever moving. Curious what you all do on wall drops where the customer swears they will never touch it, do you still tie it down tight or leave slack for future-you?
Velcro all day. Zip ties on a wall drop are just a future headache you are gifting to yourself or whoever comes next. Even if the customer swears they will never touch it, they always end up adding something, and cutting ties behind drywall is a bad time. Leave it loose with a loop and move on.
