I used to think monthly setups had to be fancy spreads

At some point last summer I realized I was spending 2 hours decorating pages instead of tracking my habits, and a friend's bare-bones weekly layout made me see how much time I was wasting. Has anyone else stopped doing elaborate monthly covers and just wrote the dates down plain?

Nah, I'm kind of the opposite here. I actually enjoy spending 30 minutes making a messy watercolor month cover because it gets me hyped to actually use the planner. To each their own, but the decorative stuff is part of the fun for me, not a waste.

Messed up a watercolor spread last week so bad I just called it "abstract" and left it... kind of like how my old cooking experiments ended up being "deconstructed" meals. @williamprice gets it though, sometimes the messy ones feel more alive than the perfect ones anyway.
