I thought drawing a monthly calendar in my bullet journal was a waste of time
For the first year of my bullet journaling, I only used the rapid logging system and never made a monthly spread. I figured it was just extra drawing that didn't help. Then last month, my work schedule got crazy with three different project deadlines. I saw a friend's journal and she had a simple monthly calendar drawn out, so I tried it. I spent about 20 minutes on a Tuesday night drawing the grid and writing in key dates. Having that one-page view of the whole month changed everything. I could see how the deadlines stacked up and moved a personal appointment I'd forgotten about. It stopped me from overbooking a weekend. What other parts of the system did you guys skip at first that you now find useful?

My buddy who's a project manager swears by the index. I always thought it was just for fancy journals, but he showed me his. He can find notes from six months ago in like ten seconds because he wrote the page numbers down. It's a game changer for tracking old ideas.

Honestly, I read a blog post that said the future log is the most skipped part. Tbh I was the same, it felt too far off to matter. But having those big things like vacations or car service written down months ahead stops so much stress. @alexj99 is right, we skip the simple stuff.
