PSA: I thought the 'cash envelope' thing was total nonsense until I tried it for groceries

My partner kept telling me to pull out a set amount of physical cash for food each week, and I was sure it was a hassle. I gave in and took out $150 in twenties about two months ago. Watching the actual money leave my wallet made me skip the impulse snacks and fancy cheese every single time. We actually had money left over for a pizza night, which never happened with my card. Has anyone else had a simple trick work way better than you expected?

Seriously, I did the same thing with my coffee budget and it saved me a ton.

My local spot charges five bucks for a basic latte. Cutting that to just two home brews a week put an extra eighty bucks back in my pocket last month. I started putting that cash straight into a jar for concert tickets. It adds up way faster than you'd think when you're not watching it drip away daily.
