Tried a 'one pot' pasta recipe from a blog, ended up with a weird texture
Found a recipe online that said to cook pasta right in the sauce with water. Used a box of store brand spaghetti and a can of crushed tomatoes. Cooked it for the time it said, about 12 minutes. The pasta soaked up all the liquid but came out kind of gummy and sticky. Saved maybe two bucks on not using a second pot, but the meal was not great. Anyone have a better method for cheap one pot meals that actually work?

Totally feel you on the weird pasta texture. My buddy tried that once and his sauce turned into wallpaper paste. Honestly, I just use the second pot now, the cleanup isn't that bad.

Agree that extra pot is worth it every time. The texture trade-off just isn't worth the saved washing up. Some kitchen shortcuts backfire hard!
