Tried foam board vs worbla for my last build and the difference is insane
I spent the last 3 months working on a Mandalorian helmet and chest plate using worbla. Cost me like $80 for a small sheet and it was a pain to heat up evenly. Then I redid the whole thing with 5mm foam board from the dollar store, maybe $12 total. The foam was way easier to cut and shape with just a box cutter and a heat gun. Plus I didn't burn my fingers half as much. Has anyone else made the switch and found foam holds up better for con wear?

My 2019 run with worbla on a full knight set held up through 4 cons and a move across state lines with barely a scratch. Foam board dents if you look at it wrong, and that first time someone bumps into you at a crowded con, you're gonna have a sad panda moment. The heat tool learning curve sucks but the payoff in durability is real, especially if you're planning to wear this thing more than once.

Bet the_river's worbla build weighed way less than the same thing in steel, which nobody's mentioning.
