Rant: Hot glue is NOT the best budget option for armor.

I kept seeing everyone say hot glue for EVA foam armor. Cheap and easy. Finally checked my total cost after 3 builds. Hot glue sticks were $18 for the big pack. Contact cement was $12 for a quart. And it lasted through 5 costumes. Hot glue popped off at a con in Austin. Had to fix pieces in the bathroom. Anyone else ditch hot glue for contact cement?

My first build used hot glue too, but after your cost breakdown I'm switching to contact cement.

Hot glue holds up fine if you're not throwing your build at a wall.
