My sister told me to use a dollar store shower curtain for a cape and I thought she was crazy.

I was making a Doctor Strange cosplay and needed that big, flowy look without spending $40 on fabric. I bought a dark blue curtain for $3, cut it into a circle, and it worked perfectly. Has anyone else tried using something totally weird that actually looked good?

Okay the tablecloth for a Jedi robe is actually a great idea. I used to be such a fabric snob and would only buy the "right" stuff from the craft store. Seeing people use curtains and tablecloths totally changed my mind. The drape is sometimes even better with that heavier material, and you can't beat the price. I'm never going back to overpriced fabric for simple cosplay pieces.

Honestly that's genius for a flowy cape. I've used a cheap tablecloth for a Jedi robe before and it worked great. The weight is perfect for that kind of movement.

Nice! I never would have thought of a tablecloth for a Jedi robe. Did you have to hem the edges at all or did you just leave it raw? I feel like that fabric would fray like crazy after a few wears.
