Hot glue vs. EVA foam glue, one wins hard

I spent 6 months using hot glue on all my foam armor and kept getting seams that cracked after a con day. Two weeks ago I tried contact cement on a pauldron rebuild and it held through a whole weekend of bending and posing. Same foam, same paint, but the contact cement cost me like $8 at a local hardware store in Austin. Anyone else made the switch and never looked back, or do you have a trick to make hot glue last longer?

Nah, you're sleeping on hot glue if you're getting cracks that fast. Prep your foam edges right, rough them up with sandpaper and wipe off the dust before you lay down that bead, then let it cure for a full 24 hours before you even flex the piece. Contact cement is fine for flat seams but it's a pain when you need to adjust a curve on the fly, hot glue gives you that window to reposition before it sets.
