I just hit 500 linear feet of soldier course on a single job and it made me think

It was for a big garden wall in a new subdivision. I was laying out the first course and my foreman said we had to run a full 500 feet of straight, clean soldier brick for the top cap. I thought he was nuts. But we set up a tight string line, kept the mix perfect, and just worked it section by section. When we finally connected the last brick, the line was dead straight the whole way. It made me realize how much of this job is just setting up right and trusting the process. Anyone else have a number that seemed impossible until you just did the work?

My old foreman said that too.

Wow, that's impressive, but @richardh74, a soldier course is actually the first row, not the top cap.

It's the same with everything these days, people just repeat what they heard once and it becomes fact. You see it with tools, with car repairs, with how to fix a phone screen. Someone confidently says the wrong thing, and because they sound sure, it spreads. Makes you want to check everything yourself.
