My Monstera leaf split after 8 years of perfect health

I repotted my monstera last week using a mix I found on a random blog, and two days later the biggest leaf just split down the middle like butter. Turns out the recipe had way too much sand and not enough perlite, so the roots probably got shocked. Anyone else ever follow a potting mix recipe online that totally backfired?
