Vent: I keep seeing people skip the grain test on handmade paper

Some binders say it's fine to just fold it once and check, but I've had three projects warp because the paper grain was off by 90 degrees. I always tear a small strip and see which way it curls. How do you all check yours?

Try the water drop test instead.

But doesn't the water drop test just show if it's hydrophobic? @richard_west5 I feel like that doesn't really tell you much about actual quality, you know?

Yeah Reese has a point... that test only shows the coating is still there. Could be a cheap coating that wears off fast. Real quality is more about the leather itself and how it's stitched.
