Just realized my headband corners went from ragged to crisp after I switched to a bone folder I heated slightly with a hair dryer for 5 seconds.
Has anyone else tried warming their tools for stubborn materials, or is there a better trick for that final sharp crease?

Careful with open flame though, that's a fire risk.

Oh man, that's a game changer for sure. I had the same fight with some thick leather and my regular folder just would NOT give me a clean line. Warming it up over a candle for like two seconds made it glide through and set the crease perfectly. You just have to be super careful not to overheat it and damage the material. That slight warmth really does make all the difference on stubborn stuff.

Oh, but doesn't that heating trick change the temper of the leather just enough that your fold doesn't hold as well over time? I've always been paranoid about messing with the material structure, even for those stubborn hides that fight you. Is a candle really worth the risk, or are we just impatient?
