Picked up 'The Goldfinch' for a book club debate... changed my mind halfway through
I was convinced it was overhyped and too long, but the way Tartt wove the NYC art scene into that kid's life had me hooked after 200 pages. How many of you actually finished it or bailed, because I nearly quit at the start?
Rewind a bit on the timeline, it actually took me closer to 250 pages before it clicked. The whole Hobie and the furniture workshop part felt like a different book at first, but once Boris showed up things started moving. I finished it, but I had to put it down twice during the Vegas section because it dragged something awful.
