Was iffy about worker placement games for years, now I get the hype

I used to think worker placement was just a boring puzzle with no interaction. Then I played Agricola with my group last weekend, and the tension over blocking each other's spots was actually intense. Has anyone else had their opinion flip on a whole genre like that?

@drew791 that "staring at a board the longest" thing hits hard cuz honestly that's kinda how I used to see it too. But then I realized it's the same vibe as trying to grab the last parking spot at a busy grocery store on a Saturday. You and everyone else have the same goal, you can see what they're doing, and it turns into this weird social game where you either block them or find a smarter way in. It's like how in real life you learn to read people's moves just by watching them, whether it's at work or in traffic. And Agricola specifically makes that tension feel personal because that stupid little wooden pig is the difference between feeding your family or not.

Wait, so you're telling me that fighting over a stupid little wooden pig is actually fun and not just a test of who can stare at a board the longest?
