The night mode trick that saved my vacation photos in Barcelona

I was in Barcelona last month and every single picture I took at night came out like a blurry mess. I tried holding my breath, leaning against walls, even propping my phone on trash cans lol. Then a random guy at a cafe told me to switch to night mode AND tap the screen to lock focus on the brightest part of the shot. I did that for the Sagrada Familia at 9pm and the detail was insane - you could see the stone carvings. He also said to hold still for 3 full seconds after the shutter sound, not just tap and move. Has anyone else tried locking focus like that or do you have a better trick for low light shots?

Three seconds after the shutter is the part most people skip.

Keep going right through that moment when you want to stop... that's where the real magic usually happens for me.
