My camera phone completely failed me at a concert last night

I was at a gig in Austin last night, right up front for the opening band, and every single shot came out like a blurry mess. The lighting was dim but not that bad, and I tried holding my breath and bracing against the stage. Still got 47 photos that look like abstract art instead of the guitarist's solo. Has anyone found a trick for getting clear shots in dark venues with a basic phone camera? I'm about to give up and just enjoy the show.

That whole "enjoy the moment" thing starts making more sense every year.

That "abstract art" comment really hit home. A friend of mine went to see a smaller band at a dive bar in Nashville last spring. She was so excited to get video of the singer doing this big emotional moment, but when she looked at her phone later all she had was this strange blurry orange blob that might have been the stage light reflecting off his guitar. She said it looked more like a painting of a ghost than a concert video. She's since decided that some shows just aren't meant to be captured on a basic phone, and she's happier just putting it away and watching.
