I finally compared burst mode to single shot for my kid's soccer game
Burst mode gave me 50 nearly identical shots of my daughter running, but my friend's single shot with a faster shutter speed caught her mid-air with the ball perfectly sharp. The difference was shutter priority at 1/1000 instead of relying on continuous AF. Has anyone else found burst mode overrated for action shots?

Burst mode just fills up my card with junk honestly. I shot a whole game on burst once and ended up with 400 photos of the same run. My buddy nailed it with one single shot at 1/1000 and it was way sharper. The burst ones all had that slight motion blur around the edges. I'll take one good frame over fifty okay ones any day.

one good frame over fifty okay ones" - I mean yeah but is it really that big of a deal? You're shooting a kids soccer game, not the World Cup. Nobody's gonna notice a little motion blur except you pixel peeping at 400% zoom. I shoot burst all the time and just pick the best 3 or 4 and delete the rest. Takes like 2 minutes. Why stress over getting it perfect in one frame?
