Found out AI sharpening tools can't fix motion blur in a certain way
I was messing around with some old photos from a concert I went to last October, trying to clean up this one shot of the guitarist where his hand was just a blur. I figured I'd try one of those AI photo sharpeners I kept seeing ads for, the ones that promise to magically fix anything. But then I read this article on a photography blog that said those tools can only handle basic out of focus stuff, not real motion blur where the whole image has a direction to it. It blew my mind because I spent like two hours tweaking settings before I realized the AI was just guessing the hand shape and making it look weird. Has anyone else run into this limit with those sharpening apps?

Wait what, for real? I literally just went through the same thing last week with some blurry shots of my dog catching a frisbee. I was sitting there for an hour tweaking the settings on this one app thinking I was doing something wrong, and it kept adding random dog paws and making his face look all smushed. I mean, I knew AI was good but not THAT good, right? So it turns out the algorithm can't tell the difference between a hand moving fast and a hand that's just poorly focused, that's actually kind of wild. So basically those apps are just guessing what the missing parts should look like and hoping nobody notices, which is pretty scary if you ask me.
