Went back to a show I loved 5 years ago and it felt totally different

I remember binging The Rookie on my laptop during a layover in El Paso 5 years ago. Thought it was the best thing ever. Last week I tried rewatching season 1 on my TV at home and I couldn't even get through the first 3 episodes. The acting felt way more cheesy than I remembered. Has anyone else gone back to an old favorite and just not felt it anymore?

Playing it on a tiny phone screen changes the whole mood for sure.

The way we watch things totally changes the experience too. Watching on a phone vs a big TV is like two different shows honestly. But yeah this happens with a lot of stuff. I tried replaying an old video game I loved as a teen and it felt so clunky and slow I couldn't even finish the tutorial. Its not just the thing aging either. We grow up and our brains start wanting different things from entertainment. Same reason old songs from high school hit different now.
