I finally gave in and watched that show everyone was talking about
My friend kept telling me to watch 'The Bear' for over a month, but I thought a show about a kitchen would be boring. I watched the first episode last Tuesday and was hooked by the end of it. The stress and the yelling felt way too real, like my own job on a bad day. Has anyone else been surprised by a show they thought they'd hate?

Tried 'Schitt's Creek' expecting nothing and got totally addicted to the family's weird charm.

Yeah, "got totally addicted" is exactly how I felt too... I read somewhere that Dan Levy wrote the whole thing thinking nobody would watch it and they just made it for themselves. That makes a lot of sense when you see how specific the jokes are. It's not trying to be this huge laugh-out-loud comedy every second, it's more about these awkward family moments that grow on you. I remember seeing an article that said the show's real hook is watching people learn to be nice to each other, which sounds cheesy but it works. The way Moira talks alone is worth watching the whole series for.

It's a fine show but people act like it changed their life. The humor is pretty low-key and not that deep. Not everything needs to be a huge deal.
