Unpopular opinion: brand name clippers aren't always better

I bought a set of cheap clippers from a beauty supply store in St. Louis about 6 months ago after my Oster broke. Figured they'd last maybe a month but they're still going strong with zero issues. My buddy swears by his $400 Wahls and says I'm crazy for using these. Has anyone else had good luck with budget clippers for a while?

Are your Osters the ones that use the old style clipper blades that aren't universal? I almost made that mistake shopping for replacements.

OH man, you're hitting on a VERY specific pain point in my life. My Osters are the OLD old ones, the ones that look like they survived a garage fire from 1987, and I found out the hard way when I ordered a "universal" blade set online. Spent an hour trying to force them on before I realized they were like trying to fit a square peg in a round hole on a Sunday afternoon. Now I keep a little sticky note taped to the clipper case that says "YOU NEED THE WEIRD BLADES, DINGUS" so I don't make the same mistake twice.
