My uncle swore by using a straight razor on kids' fades, and I finally tried it
He told me, 'Just go slow, it's like butter,' when I was cutting my nephew's hair for his birthday last Saturday. I was so nervous my hand was shaking a little, but it actually gave the cleanest line I've ever seen on a skin fade. Now I'm wondering if I should add it to my regular service menu for the brave parents, or is that too much of a liability? lol

Have you looked into the insurance side of things yet? My shop's policy had a whole section about straight razor work and the extra cost was no joke. You'd need a rock solid consent form, maybe even a video waiver for the parents. The clean line is amazing but one slip with a kid who moves suddenly changes everything. I keep mine just for regulars who have sat still for me a dozen times already.

How many shops actually follow through with those video waivers though? I bet half the places charging extra for razor work just have a basic paper form that wouldn't hold up. The insurance cost alone makes it not worth it for kids, even if the parent swears their kid is a statue. One lawsuit from a nick and your premium goes through the roof, so you're right to stick with regulars who know the drill.
