A simple mirror check in a Denver shop changed how I see my work
I was visiting a friend's barbershop in Denver last month and watched him finish a cut. Before he took off the cape, he held up a small hand mirror and showed the client the back from three different angles. The client's face lit up, and he said, 'I never really see it from the sides.' I realized I was just doing a quick back check and calling it good. Now I make a point to show every single client at least two mirror angles, and the tips have gotten better. Has anyone else added a small step that made a big difference in how clients feel?

Is that really the key thing though? I've always just focused on doing a solid cut from the start... the mirror feels like a showy extra step. My regulars seem happy without it.

Yeah, the "showy extra step" is exactly why it works. It turns a good cut into a memorable experience that clients talk about. That little bit of theater is what builds a real following.
