Dropped $60 on a self-watering pot that drowned my basil in 4 days
I bought this fancy pot from a garden center in Austin, filled it up like the instructions said, and my basil went from perky to brown sludge in under a week. Anyone else had a 'self-watering' system that just waterboards your plants?

Oh man, that pot definitely sounds like it was running a plant torture dungeon instead of a watering system. I swear those things are designed to give your herbs a slow drowning death while charging you sixty bucks for the privilege. My coworker tried one for his succulents and ended up with a swamp that looked like it belonged in a Louisiana bayou. Bet your basil would have been safer in a styrofoam cup with a hole poked in the bottom.

Right, and here I am with three dead succulents on my windowsill that I'm pretty sure died from neglect because I actually had to remember to water them myself. That smart pot's probably laughing at me from the dumpster while my basil is sending passive aggressive messages through its wilting leaves. Honestly, my plant care routine is basically just apologizing to greenery until it gives up on me.
