A neighbor's comment about my bread crust changed how I bake

Years ago, I brought a loaf to a block party and Mrs. Jenkins from down the street said, 'Your crust is lovely, but it's a bit shy.' She meant it needed more color. I started baking my loaves a few minutes longer, and it made all the difference. Has anyone else had a small piece of advice that really stuck?

Honestly seems like a lot of fuss over bread color lol. It's just a crust, not a personality trait. My bread tastes fine even if it's a little pale.

Shy crust" is such a nice way to put it. Did you ever tell her the impact she had?

My crusts used to be downright introverted.
