My mixer broke during a 200-cupcake order for a school event

It was a Tuesday morning and I had just started the third batch of vanilla batter when my old KitchenAid started making a grinding noise and stopped. I had to finish mixing everything by hand, which took over an hour longer and my arms were killing me. The cupcakes turned out fine, but the whole process was so stressful I almost called the school to cancel. What's your backup plan when your main equipment fails on a big job?

That sounds like a complete nightmare, especially under that kind of pressure. My backup is a cheap hand mixer I keep in the box for exactly this reason. It's not as good, but it'll get you through a batter crisis without destroying your arms.

Batter crisis" is the perfect way to put it lol. Been there, my stand mixer died right before a big cookie order. Had to use a whisk and my arm was toast for days.
