My brother-in-law from Boise called my shed foundation a 'temporary solution' and he was right
He pointed out my cinder blocks on the dirt were already sinking after one rainy Oregon winter. I pulled them all up and poured a proper concrete pad, 8 by 10 feet. Has anyone else had to redo a foundation after thinking a shortcut would hold up?

Depends on the soil and shed size. My cinder blocks on gravel have been solid for years.

My buddy tried that with a 10x12 on clay soil. First big rain and two blocks sank about 4 inches, shed ended up leaning like the Leaning Tower of Shed-za.

Nice. Did the same thing for my 8x10. Used 12 blocks, dug down about 6 inches for each, filled with crushed stone and tamped it solid. No shifting, even after a rough winter.
