Hot take: Morning feedings are NOT the best time

I used to swear by feeding my flock at dawn. After noticing they go CRAZY for kitchen scraps in the late day, I switched to evening feeds. Now the egg count is up and everyone seems more content.

Wow, my hens got way calmer after I switched to evening feedings too.

Yeah, my hens gave me the side-eye for a week straight when I tried that. They acted like I'd personally cancelled breakfast forever. Now they just mob me for scraps when I'm trying to take the compost out, so I guess the revenge plot is working.

That "revenge plot" line cracked me up. I used to think chickens didn't hold grudges (like, they're just birds, right?), but your story about the side-eye changed my mind. Now I notice my neighbor's flock giving her the stink eye whenever she swaps their scraps. They definitely plot their payback, even if it's just mobbing for compost.
