You mentioned it's "usually not worth the money for power alone," but I've seen enough dyno runs on common 4-cylinders to think even that claim is generous. The factory airbox is already pulling cold air from the fender, and most of these intakes just add noise for the same or worse intake temps.

Saying cold air intakes are a total waste isn't quite right. A drop in filter or a short ram kit won't do much on a stock daily driver, but a properly routed cold air intake with a heat shield can actually help a little in warmer weather. It's usually not worth the money for power alone, but some people like the sound and it can free up a tiny bit of restriction.
