My neighbor's kid asked me why we still use bondo on classic cars

He's in a high school auto tech program, and his teacher said modern fillers are stronger and easier to sand. I've been using the same stuff for 20 years out of habit, but he had a point about the new formulas. Has anyone switched over and noticed a real difference in finish or durability?

Oh man, that kid is onto something. I got talked into trying a new lightweight filler last year for a door ding on my old truck. The big shock was how little it shrank after it cured. With the old stuff I was used to doing a second pass, but this one just stayed put. It feathered out so much easier with the sander too. Makes me wonder what other old habits I'm stuck in.

I was the same way until I tried it.

Guess we're all just creatures of habit, huh?
