Had to pick between a DSLR and a dedicated astronomy camera for my 8 inch Dobsonian. Went with the astronomy cam and my Jupiter shots are way sharper now.

Watch Alice start a telescope war in the comments over a simple compliment. Gotta love how a nice comment about an 8 inch Dob turns into a debate on optics. In my experience, the best scope is the one you actually use on a clear night, whether it's a dob or a refractor. Let the man enjoy his beast of a telescope, Alice.

Actually, Dobs are great for deep space but planets really need steady air. My 6 inch refractor often shows more detail on Jupiter than larger reflectors.
