PSA: I stopped asking 'what's the best way' in this group and started just trying stuff.
For a year, I'd post here asking for the perfect method before starting any project, like how to seal a concrete patio. I finally just bought a $40 sealer from Home Depot and tested it on a small spot, learned more in an hour than from weeks of reading replies. When did asking for the single right answer become more common than just sharing what actually worked for you?

Remember that article about how paint reacts differently on old walls? It said a cheap test pot is the best money you'll spend. Jasonc77 has a point about needing advice, but that advice is worthless if it doesn't account for your specific wall.
