My old forum search totally failed me yesterday on a simple question

I was trying to find out why my car's heater fan only works on the high setting, a classic 'ask anything' type problem. I spent an hour digging through a forum from 2010, but all the image links were broken and the advice was for a different model year. What's the best place to get clear answers for random broken stuff now, since so many old forum posts are basically useless?

I still find forums useful, you just have to know which ones. For my Honda, I use a specific 2008-2012 Civic forum where the old timers are still active. The trick is to search for the exact part name, like "blower motor resistor," instead of just describing the symptom. Those old threads have the real fix buried in them.

My 2005 Corolla's heater resistor failed last month, and I found the exact fix in a dead forum thread from 2008. Sometimes the old, broken archives are still the only place with the right answer.

Man, that reminds me of trying to fix my buddy's old truck. The heater would just blast hot air no matter what you did. We found this ancient thread where the last post was someone saying "fixed it!" with no explanation. Turned out it was a little valve under the dash, a five dollar part, but we wasted a whole weekend because the good info was just gone. Sometimes you just have to start poking around with a flashlight.
