60 dollars for a leather hole punch or a 2 dollar drill bit?

I was tired of punching holes in belts that never lined up, so I tried using a sharp drill bit on low speed and it worked perfectly every time. Is spending on the right tool always better, or is rigging it with what you have just as good if you are careful?

Four bucks for a hole punch beats chucking drill bits into belts every time?

Drill bit all day, I've done the same thing for years and it ruins belts way less than those off-center punch kits. The real trick is putting a piece of scrap wood behind the belt so you don't chew up the leather on the backside. Once I stopped trying to be fancy about it, my belts started actually fitting right.
