Heard a guy at the hardware store in Tacoma say you can use a pressure washer to clean moss off a roof

I was grabbing some caulk and overheard this customer telling the clerk that his 'tree guy' uses a 3000 psi washer to blast moss off his cedar shake roof. The clerk just nodded along, but all I could picture was shredded shingles and water forced under the roofing paper. It made me realize how often people get dangerous advice from someone who sounds confident. Has anyone else had to clean up after a homeowner tried a hack like that?

Remember when I tried to clean my deck with a pressure washer and just made a bunch of holes? Yeah, roofs are probably worse.

Wow, I actually used to think pressure washing a roof was fine. Then I saw a neighbor's place where the water got under the shingles and caused a huge leak. Now I know that's a fast way to ruin your roof.
