Remember when washer tubs were metal?

Pulled apart a 1995 Whirlpool direct drive last week. All metal transmission and a steel tub. That thing weighed a ton but it ran for 28 years. Now I'm looking at a modern Samsung with a plastic tub that barely made it 4 years. The new stuff just isn't built to last like the old machines. How many of you still see those old Whirlpools coming through your shop?

I mean, the plastic tubs are way lighter and easier to move though.

Yeah, it's funny how we trade off durability for convenience in pretty much everything nowadays, isn't it?
