Spent 6 hours chasing a ground fault on a panel in Columbus that was one loose screw
Last Tuesday I was wiring a 16 zone panel in Columbus and kept getting a ground fault that would not clear no matter how many times I checked the zone wiring. Turns out the screw holding the can to the backplate was biting through a wire jacket, and I only found it after pulling everything apart twice. How do you guys check for stuff like that without tearing the whole panel back down?
Honestly your issue wasn't the screw, it was skipping the meter. A good clamp test on the can and backplate takes two minutes and would've saved you both teardowns. Chasing wiring blind before checking the metal is just making extra work for yourself.
