My air fryer basket coating started peeling after 6 months and now I'm scared to cook in it

Bought this Gourmia from Walmart back in March and the nonstick coating is literally flaking off into my food. I didn't even use metal utensils, just rubber tongs and sprayed it with oil. Contacted customer support and they said it's normal wear and tear so no refund. Anyone else deal with this and find a safe way to keep using theirs?

Oh man, that's rough. My buddy had the exact same thing happen with his Bella air fryer, he caught flakes floating around in his fries one night and just tossed the whole basket. He ended up getting replacement baskets on Amazon for like 15 bucks that were just plain metal (no coating) and said it works fine, just gotta spray more oil or line it with parchment paper. Honestly I'd be scared to keep using it too, that stuff can't be good for you.

Wait, so I gotta worry about my air fryer shedding on my food too now? @the_wesley guess I'll join the flakey french fry club with you guys. Guess I'll be eating my fries with a side of microplastics. Great.
