Hot take: preheating the air fryer is a waste of time for most things

I was at my sister's place last weekend and she waited 5 minutes for hers to heat up before throwing in some frozen fries, but I just threw mine in cold and they came out the exact same. Am I missing something or is preheating just a myth?

Does the air fryer need a moment to "think" about what it's about to cook or something? I never preheat mine and my fries don't seem to hold a grudge about it.
