Blew my mind finding out air fryers use less oil than a deep fryer by a lot

Honestly, I was just looking up the manual for my Gourmia model last week and stumbled on some stat that said air fryers use like 70-80 percent less oil than regular deep frying. I always figured it was just a gimmick but I guess not. I found it buried in the specs page online, not even in the recipe section. Has anyone else actually measured how much oil they save per batch compared to the old way?

Usually just eyeball it myself and stop once the basket looks coated instead of swimming in oil. If you weigh your oil before and after you'll see the difference is pretty dramatic, I did that once with wings and was shocked at how little got absorbed. Just remember to pat your food dry first or you're basically steaming it before the crisp sets in.

Wait you actually weighed the oil? That's insane but kinda genius. I would have guessed way more got absorbed too. @simoncarr now I gotta try that just to see for myself.
