My grandpa told me the Westgate Mall would be empty in 10 years back in 2005 and I laughed at him.

He said people would stop driving to a dead building with no anchor stores and now it's just a dusty hallway with a Dollar Store and I still think about that conversation every time I walk through there, has anyone else had a relative call it years before it happened?

Grandpa was just being dramatic honestly. Westgate was still pretty solid in 2005 with Dillards and Sears holding it together for a few more years.

Does anyone remember when malls actually had those weird indoor fountains with the pennies at the bottom? My aunt swore the food court would be the death of every mall because nobody wants to smell fried food while they shop for jeans. Turns out she was half right, the food court outlived everything else here.
