inShowerthought: my mom's old 1980s slow cooker cookbook from Cincinnati had a whole section on gelatin molds, which I found while cleaning out her attic last month.
My grandma's handwritten card for "ham loaf" called for a whole can of tomato soup and two cups of bread crumbs. I tried it in my Crock-Pot last year, and it was basically a warm, meaty brick. The texture was all wrong without the dry heat of an oven. What was the weirdest ingredient in your mom's gelatin section?

inHonestly, can we please stop calling the river valley trails 'dry' after a single sunny day in May?
Yeah, the city site is basically just guessing. I mean, last month I drove all the way out to the west side trails because it said "dry", and the parking lot was empty, which should have been my first clue. Got about ten feet in and my shoes were completely covered in thick, sticky mud. Had to just turn around. Felt like such a waste of a morning.

inPro tip: I used to ditch old horseshoes, but a blacksmith's reuse story won me over.
Yeah, that barrel idea from faith_miller94 is smart. I just use a heavy-duty bucket in my shed, keeps them all in one spot until I have enough to make the trip worth it. leeknight is right, it's a total mindset shift once you see what they can become. My guy forges them into simple stuff like coat hooks and fire pokers, nothing fancy but it feels good not to waste the metal.
